"We have loved every minute of working with Sunset Cove Goldendoodles as guardians and are so thankful for Wrigley. We've been involved with breeding Wrigley and have learned so much.

We cannot over-emphasize how much Sunset Cove cares about all their doodles with love from day one. It's been such a blessing to see Wrigley grow as a mom and give birth to precious puppies."

Guardianship Information

Our guardianship program offers an affordable way to welcome one of our top Goldendoodles into your family. But it’s much more than a free puppy—you’re becoming a key part of our ethical breeding program. As a guardian family, you ensure each dog is a cherished pet, living a full life while bringing joy to other families through puppies.

Our dogs never live in kennels or retire after long breeding careers. Instead, they live as loved pets and are only part of our program for a short time. We place the best puppies with guardian families while retaining breeding rights. Sunset Cove covers all breeding-related expenses, including health testing and eventual spaying/neutering. You, as the guardian family, cover normal pet care costs.

How It Works

When your female is in heat or your male is needed for breeding, your dog will temporarily return to Sunset Cove. Females stay with us for breeding and whelping, typically about six weeks. Males need to be made accessible for breeding upon notification from the breeder.

After breeding obligations are met (usually after 4-5 litters), full ownership is transferred to you.

If your dog is not needed for breeding, the contract is dissolved. If your family moves more than 100 miles away, the contract is also dissolved, and you’ll need to pay a prorated pet price.

We cover all health care and breeding-related expenses while you care for your dog as a family pet. If for any reason we feel the contract terms aren’t being met, Sunset Cove retains the right to reclaim the dog. Families must notify us if they plan to transport the dog more than 60 miles from our location for longer than a week to ensure breeding plans aren’t disrupted.
